Do you think that all open access journals charge huge publication fees? Wrong.

Do you think that open access journals are lower quality? Nope.

I'm convinced on all of the above, and more interested in publishing in open access journals than in the past.

I'd like to hear opinions on one other question:

"Publishing in open access journals rather than traditional ones will limit your future job prospects."

To Bayman, I'm not sure there is a direct link. Open access journals are new, so many do not have reputations yet. Journals like PLOS Biology and PLOS Medicine seem to be doing fine. Publishing in PLOS Biology, Genetics, etc. versus an equivalently "ranked" traditional journal will probably not have a direct effect on future job prospects.
