Parliament

I was cleaning up the photos on my cellphone and I found this. The buildings in the background are Canada's Parliament Buildings on "the hill." It's where all the MP's elected on Tuesday will be meeting in a few weeks. Does anyone recognize where I was when I took the picture?

For some reason when I saw that phrase in the lead sentence in my reader I had a momentary spasm of bogglement at just how unamazing it has become to say something like that. Photos on a cell phone! I remember crank telephones where after you cranked the handle, Central (the operator) inquired what number you wanted to call. "!4" you could tell her and get connected to your dad's lumber yard.

When I was around 20 I worked in a military missile test program at Cape Canaveral before it was the Kennedy Test Center. When I was home on leave once I spent an afternoon talking about my work with my great grandfather who immigrated to Minnesota, with his bride, in a horse and buggy.
