The Great Muffin Joke Debate
Check out The Great Muffin Joke Debate at Cosmic Variance. I think it's funny. It's not ROTFLMFHO funny, but it does make me smile. John Tierney does not think it's funny. Is there a correlation between whether you think the joke is funny and whether you "get" irony and sarcasm?

I think it's funny. It's just the type of humor i like.
I think you are on to something - it is funny for me, but not hilariously so. Which is what I feel for most of irony and sarcasm. But there is a caveat - sometimes irony and sarcasm is the only appropriate response, and then it is usually deliciously funny. Which reminds me, now I have to go and get a coffee with a muffin.
Definitely funny. Those who don't think it's funny have no sense of humour.
Count me in the Funny column. It strikes me as a Goon Show type of joke, which is my favourite type.
While I "get" the joke, it didn't tickle my funny bone. It's the kind of joke where my response depends on random things like my mood, and I think in this case the lead-up (ie. that I'm supposed to be analyzing my reaction) preempts whatever laugh reflex I might have had.
It's funny, but it definitely depends on your sense of humour, and some people were just born devoid of one. Believe it or not I actually know a few people who are!!
