Dinner with Bjørn

Bjørn Østman of Pleiotropy and Carnival of Evolution was in town for a visit on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011. We talked about evolution, accommodationism, atheism, PZ, education, visas, politics, carnivals, the USA, adaptationism, blogging, and careers in science.

I think he was happy to learn that I agreed with him on almost everything.

  1. Yes. Friendly disagreement is productive, but too much of it can be exasperating.

  2. Come on - admit it. You also talked about Antipodean Apes.

  3. It's nice to know that Freeman Dyson is a dualist. I like dualism (and I am a biologist). Of course his "God" is then no God at all in the conventional sense and thus Dyson should not have been included in this list.

  4. John, we talked about speciation, and that included your work on the subject. Where can I find a copy of the paper?
