Oops! The Rapture Didn't Happen
There was supposed to be a rapture last month but the prediction didn't come true. Either that or it did come true and only a small number of people were raptured, not including the prophet.
In case anyone is interested, here's how our prophet explains his little mistake [Are You Rapture Ready]. I assume he's apologizing to all those people who gave away everything in the expectation that they would soon be in heaven.
I offered to take some of those worldly goods off their hands but I couldn't find anyone who was expecting to be raptured. I guess I don't hang out with the right kinds of people.

HAPPY NEW YEAR :)
Back when I co-hosted The Atheist Experience TV show, prior to the year 2000, our host Jeff Dee would do his weekly "Rapture Report," a list of all the most recent failed predictions by various fundie hucksters of the moment all True Christians™ would be wafted away to Happyland. It was both hilarious and pitiful. After 2000 came and went, somehow these predictions trailed off...
lol
This is hilarious. It reminds me of the time when atheist Majerus said that, the fact that moths rest on tree trunks proves that God doesn't exist.
Rapture alarmists and darwinian story tellers are from the same stock.
Mats, when did Majerus say that? I have a link to his speech on the subject and I don't see any evidence that he said what you claim (or what you read Wells claim):

Ah no, that's rapture alarmists, Noah's ark storytellers, people who believe in talking snakes, 900 year old guys, etc. The folks who believe in that retarded nonsense usually believe that "God" made them, when in reality, their parents just got horny and had sex.
Jebus appears to have raptured that website's servers, as they return a 404 Not Found error. Google still has the site cached, but I see no explanation. Oh, and I was so wanting one! ;-)
Incidentally, another 2007 rapture site has made quick work of Jebus's decision to tarry, redirecting its 2007 Rapture page to a 2008 Rapture page. [G]od helps those who help themselves eh?
Hello, Mats. Wondering if you would answer a question: Is it your interpretation that the first 3 days described in Genesis each lasted 24 hours?
There was a rapture planned and no one told me? I feel so...unloved.
You know, I can't help but think that one HUGE difference between rapture alarmists and "Darwinian story tellers" is that the predictions made by rapture alarmists don't come true, whereas the predictions made by evolutionary biologists do. (a more proper term for "Darwinists", as we don't call physicists working with classical physics "Newtonists")
I'd provide examples, but the only people who need to hear them won't listen to them.

Mats is just trying to say that he has nothing in common with those "rapture alarmists" who believe in an invisible sky daddy.
They have totally stupid ideas -Mats, I completely agree with you on this one.
I might possibly find a few atheists who predict the end of religion. It's a common affliction, Voltaire had it, for one, Marx, for another (I don't mean Groucho!).
So there's silly people, that doesn't therefore mean there are no arguments for a given position.
Jud,
Hello, Mats. Wondering if you would answer a question: Is it your interpretation that the first 3 days described in Genesis each lasted 24 hours?
Yes. I know what you'll ask after my reply. Let me save you the work:
The light came from the source of light God created on the first day.

Oh, yeah, atheists have their own version of the rapture. Voltaire was one.
An interesting quote Larry has here:
"One of the most frightening things in the Western world, and in this country in particular, is the number of people who believe in things that are scientifically false. If someone tells me that the earth is less than 10,000 years old, in my opinion he should see a psychiatrist" - ....Francis Crick.
Interesting words, coming from someone who was a drug consumer.
In Majerus word might actually have sarcastic meaning. (IF he actually wrote something like that)
"the fact that moths rest on tree trunks proves that God doesn't exist."
Think: I can remember some IDiots, Wells, Icons of Evolution, ring a bell? where is strange statement. ID is getting proof becouse evolutiontheorys "icons" are falce. So evolution is false -> ID is better theory. And that leads in that "the (misleaded) fact (from Wells imagination) that moths don't rest on tree trunks proves that Intelligent Designer exist." And if that is really true, "true survival of falsifiabilitytest", that actually leads in conclusion that "the fact that moths rest on tree trunks proves that God doesn't exist." Which is absurd.
But only just absurd as Wells way defend ID by mocking "evolution's icons". Because it is actually same thing.
Invisible but...Existing? (g)
Ah, so you do have something in common with those "rapture alarmists"?
Make up your mind, Mats. Don't be so flip-floppy. Never forget that your Big Guy is watching everything that you do, every second of every day. I hope for your sake that you don't disappoint Him.
Want the real skinny on the insane, 178-year history of the famous "rapture" belief? Pick a favorite search engine (Google? Yahoo?) and put in "Pretrib Rapture Diehards," "Pretrib Rapture Desperados," "Famous Rapture Watchers" etc. - shockeroo items by historian/journalist Dave MacPherson (author of the bestselling book "The Rapture Plot" - Armageddon Books) that rapture millionaires LaHaye and Lindsey don't want you to know about. Check everything out. Humberto
