My friends and colleagues, David Isenman and Jacqueline Segall, used to have a big tree in their back yard. On Monday July 8th it rained ... a lot. The ground became very soggy and the tree tipped over.
So much for the life of this tree. They need a new shed.
WOW! I think I visited that house when I interviewed for a post-doc position with Dr. Segall many moons ago.
ReplyDeleteThere was another big storm yesterday that felled a tree on our street, demolishing a car and narrowly missing a friend's house. I live on Palmerston Blvd, not far from where Larry works, and the street is known for its many century-old maples. But these are nearing the end of their lifespan, and it seems we lose one or two every year now. Every time that happens, it's almost like a neighbour dying. And I don't have much faith in our current municipal gov't to keep planting trees to keep up with the attrition.
