Darwin's Doubt: The "Trailer"

More advertising for the Intelligent Design Creationists' tenth or eleventh attempt to destroy "Darwinism" [Darwin's Doubt: The Trailer Is Here!]. They're already offering a 43% discount in order to get you to buy it.

Remember, boys and girls, that scientists aren't allowed to challenge Meyer until the book is published and we have read every page.

  1. I'm reading On the Origin of Species at this very moment, and I can say that their trailer is wholly inaccurate, which is a bit of an achievement considering that they only had to tax themselves as far as creating 46 seconds of truthful material.

I'm up to chapter 10, "On the Geological Succession of Organic Beings", and one thing I've already seen quite clearly is that Darwin regarded his book as a prospectus for a new scientific theory on biodiversity and the natural world, not a final statement where he had successfully addressed every aspect of nature but one. Anyone would only need to read his chapters on "difficulties on theory", hybridism, or instincts to see how tentative and cautious his conclusions were.

  2. Stephen C Meyer.... Stephanie Meyer.... Coincidence? I think not.

Telling fictional stories the young and naive desire, and trying to hide authorship with a gender-bending name and initial that stands for (in this case) "crapola"...

  4. Larry,

Since you ignored it previously, I’ll try again:

Considering the adage usually (but most probably erroneously) attributed to Gandhi:

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

If you are convinced that Intelligent Design is wrong and has no scientific merit, then why, given the considerable space and time you allot to denigrating it here, have you managed to arrive at the third phase of this aphorism? The level of energy you invest in fighting ID and proponents of ID, indicates that you do indeed fear it and them, and that they “will win”—do you not?

    1. Oh dear. You've figured it out.

Yes, I'm afraid that Intelligent Design Creationism is probably right and that's why I'm in the third stage of denial.

Have pity on us poor losers.

    2. I agree, it's time to throw in the towel!

OK, ID wins, everything is designed. I am so awed.

Now what, jcc? What do we do next?

  5. Hey, if I order now, does it come with a melon baller?

    1. Because if I had this book and a melon baller, I could ball melons.

As for the book, it could... you know, uh... stop heavy doors from closing when leaned against them. Or something.

  6. As usual, Darwin defenders make accusations without spelling out any real evidence, and then try to insult the honesty of their victims. If you want evidence to support my accusations, just look at the previous comments here
