Those thoughts are short-lived. It never takes the IDiots more than a few hours to disabuse me of any such sympathies.
Yesterday, for example, Sal Cordova (scordova) posted one of the most stupid things I've seen in a long, long, time. He was bragging on Uncommom Descent about a paper by Todd Wood that
But he couldn't leave it at that. Look what he said next [Creationist Paper Published in Peer-Reviewed Biology Journal, UD Author Cited — Origins 2012 Conference] ...
Also congratulations to our very own Uncommon Descent author johnnyb (Jonathan Bartlett) for his work being mentioned in Wood’s paper. To my knowledge, the current tally of Uncommon Descent authors and commenters that have been published or mentioned in scientific journals: William Dembski, Michael Behe, Nick Matzke, Rob Sheldon, Caroline Crocker, Winston Ewert, Paul Nelson, Cornelius Hunter, Granville Sewell, John A. Davison, Allen MacNeill, Andrea Bottaro, Abbie Smith, Peter Olofsson, Albert Voie, Andras Pellionisz, Albert De Roos, Walter ReMine, Paul Giem, Jonathan Sarfati, Arthur Hunt, Steve Matheson, Larry Moran, johnnyb, Eric Anderson, Casey Luskin, and yours truly scordova. [If I missed anyone, please chime in.]IDiots! There's no other word to describe them.
You and Pellionisz. Co-authors?
ReplyDeleteJohn A Davison! I love it so!
ReplyDeleteBut, yeah, how did you get in there?
Isn't Nick Matzke one of the bloggers at Panda's Thumb? Could be there are other non-IDiots on that list.
ReplyDeleteAbbie Smith!
ReplyDeleteClearly the "thinking" is the more people whose names have appeared on their blog (even if they appeared there as critics of intelligent design creationism) as well as in the primary literature, the deeper the inroads IDC has made into mainstream of science.
ReplyDeleteAnother facet of this could be that they are trying to build up IDC by pointing to the strength of its critics and saying: "look at all the caliber of the people criticizing us. If we weren't a serious contender they wouldn't bother."
This stuff might make some kind of tactical sense in the world of politics but it doesn't change the fact that they've got jack squat scientifically.
I'm so upset they didn't include me!!!!1!
ReplyDeleteThey missed me out too. *sniff*
ReplyDeleteThe following on the list aren't idiots:
Nick Matzke, Allen MacNeill, Andrea Bottaro, Abbie Smith, Peter Olofsson, Arthur Hunt, Steve Matheson, Larry Moran.
(there might be one or two more)
Didn't they ban any of the above?
ReplyDelete[chuckles] Some of the names on that list should not be there.
ReplyDeleteFACEPALMS.
lol, wat?
ReplyDeleteHe did say "commenters" at Uncommon Descent.
ReplyDeleteYes he did. What the hell is that list for if the post was about IDiots making it into the literature?
DeleteI am reminded of Cordova boasting of having 'appeared' in the 'prestigious journal Nature' a few years back. He spammed it on a dozen forums that I know of. Yes, he WAS mentioned in the prestigious journal, but it was as part of an expose of sorts on how ridiculous ID is.
ReplyDeleteThat's why the call him Slimy Sal.
DeleteI believe that several of the people in this list have been banned at UD. I've been banned there more than once, and not just by Dave Scott (now, like Robespierre, banned himself). Apparently all one has to do to make the list is to have commented (or posted) at some time in the past. I must say that, for myself, I am honored to be in the company of the list at Bob O (above).
ReplyDeleteAt least I am in between Andrea and Peter. Larry has to sit next to johnnyb. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteEat your heart out! :-)
DeleteTodd Wood's paper was published in April 2011.
ReplyDeleteIt is an attempt to undo the damage Phil Senter did to creationism.

Cordova and Larry Moran (on this topic) are not very up to date.
Here's the opening few sentences of Sal's post.
DeleteBelated congratulations to creationist Dr. Todd Wood for having his paper published in the peer reviewed Journal of Evolutionary Biology!
Dr. Wood made the announcement at the Origins 2012 Conference held at Patrick Henry College, Friday July 27, 2012.
Do you have any more quibbles you'd like to mention?
Yes: you might have checked the date of Wood's paper.
DeleteOops! Sorry, I see why you were criticizing me. You are correct, I mistakenly said that the paper was "about to be published" even though I knew differently.
DeleteI've fixed it. Sorry, "Anonymous," you were right and I was wrong.
Larry's reading comprehension skills are almost as bad as his grasp on population genetics. The list is clearly stated as being those who make comments on UD and who are published in the literature.
ReplyDeleteAre you really as stupid as this comment implies?
DeleteI think I'll write a post about all the atheists and evolutionists whose names have appeared in the scientific literature, especially those who support the concept of junk DNA. I'll also mention those people who comment on my blog. People like Joe (Joseph) Bozorgmehr (Atheistoclast).
Would you be okay with that?
Maybe you're just jealous because you were banned from Uncommon Descent for your views on the Holocaust? [Joseph Bozorgmehr is no longer with us]
Larry, my expulsion from UD was purely for political reasons. Bizarrely, my own views on historical revisionism and freedom of inquiry were taken from a completely different forum and not from UD. But Denise O'Leary was forced to act against me because the ID community apparently think it is OK to question "Darwinism" but abhorrent to question Zionism. I am sympathetic to ID, but the likes of Ben Stein, David Klinghoffer, and other pro-ID Jews, are complete hypocrites.
DeleteAtheistoclast,
DeleteLeaving aside that you are an ass-hole ... nope ... because you are an ass-hole you do not notice that reading comprehension is not a problem, but the misleading way in which this list is added. The IDiots start with a title implying that it is IDiots who get into the literature, then, curiously, play semantics by the end to have a long list of people, which includes commenters who are not IDiots. This is classic propagandist tactics. It is misleading because the whole point of their bullshit was to claim that they, the IDiots, are mentioned in scientific literature. Why add a list of commenters who do not share their IDiocy if not to mislead?
He (Cordova) was bragging on Uncommom Descent about a paper by Todd Wood that is about to be published in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology.
ReplyDeleteAbout to be published? The link gives a paper of over a year ago.
How could they omit (twice-banned) Elizabeth Liddle? OK, it's only neuroscience ...
ReplyDeleteGlad that you mention Lizzie. After my expulsion, they went on a systematic purge where lots of critics of ID were banned - so much for their commitment to freedom of thought and inquiry. I believe that "Intelligent Design" - which has its roots in William Paley's works - has been hijacked by a nasty gang of neoconservative ideologues pushing a political agenda. But their Darwinist opponents are just as bigoted and political.
DeleteI like to think I represent a third way which will become the norm once I can convince enough of my fellow scientists of its merits.
Haha, that's what you get for feeding trolls.
ReplyDeleteSo Joe - what "Genomics" program are you in??? {LOL!}
ReplyDeleteThey left off one the current 'Darwinist Hero of the Hour' too. Despite being "Hitherto Obscure"
