Atheists Serve the Devil!

Who knew? I wonder what the Devil eats for lunch? If I'm going to serve him I'd better find out.

Is he a big tipper?

This is Pat Robertson responding to a question. A caller wants to know how she, a Christian, can get along with her boyfriend, an atheist. Can you guess how the good Christian responds? Think about it, then watch.

[Hat Tip: Friendly Atheist]

  1. As commenters on other blogs have said: the atheist BF should dump the girl for being the type to believe that Pat Robertson has anything useful to say. I don't think I would know how to spend my entire life with someone who thought that way.

  2. Oh, and the best way to serve the Devil, would be seared on the BBQ, then simmered in this stuff:

  3. Yeah, that's pretty much how I expected that sort of Christian to respond.

When I left my evangelical church the rumor immediately went through my entire set of friends that I had become a Satanist and a witch. I was frozen out, and for nearly a year had no friends at all.

  4. My parents disowned me over my atheism - and I'm probably more agnostic than atheist. Well actually, my brothers brought it to their attention and used it against me so they could win a larger inheritance (nice Christian family, huh?). We're talking seven figures here.

To these hardcore fundamentalists, atheism is the ultimate sin, and ostracizing them is the preferred punishment. It even overrides family bonds, as I discovered to my dismay.

  5. Some people seem to think Robertson is acting in a typically irrational fundamentalist manner with his reply but I beg to differ. His answer is entirely rational and pretty much evidence based. One of the greatest dangers to those of a fundamentalist faith is exposure to reasonable caring people who do not share their faith. The constant reminder that an atheist can be a moral caring person flies in the face of the teachings of their religion. It provokes a dissonance that can only be destructive to their faith. The rational response is complete separation from exposure to such individuals. It's the reason behind home schooling and christian colleges. Its the reason why mega churches have adopted the approach of creating entirely enclosed community where socialising, exercising and worshiping are all done with a peer group of like minded individuals. And as others have said, if the girlfriend actually seeks advice from him Pat's probably doing the guy a favor by splitting them up!

  6. Never mind Larry, help is at hand: I'll put a good word in for you when I get to heaven; that's if I can get past Pat Robertson's the stage bouncers!

  7. They have to keep women from marrying men of any other other religion (or non-religion)...otherwise 1 Peter 1-2 says they have to be subservient and not proselytize to their husband except by their example.

  8. Except the bible says:

"7:12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy."

    -- 1st Corinthians.

Looks like Robertson is just a dick, lying about his own religion.
