I actually considered the weights to increase x2 with every increment, but dismissed that possibility as being too difficult to work with. Rather, I expected something that would fit in with the decimal system. I would never have guessed about the ounces either. I am used to the metric system.
Oh well, thanks for the information. My mind is at ease now.
Physical balance. Street hawkers and shops in many countries use (used?) this to weigh things for customers.

I assume the missing one is 1/8oz.
