PZ posted the first video on Pharyngula. I think it's important to watch both of them to see what goes on in church basements. How can we deal with this level of ignorance about science? It's especially frustrating because these young women are obviously intelligent enough that they should know better.
"I, of course, question nothing at all times". It's kind of like the inverse, bizarro-world version of the mad scientist working out of their basement, eh?
ReplyDeleteBTW, It's also like a scene out of the movie "Idiocracy".
I started watching the first video and then I noticed the shirt and I couldn't stop laughing. It's from the series of shirts that include such hilarity as "EX-Masturbator". If you want a good laugh go here: http://p4cmtshirts.bigcartel.com/
ReplyDeleteIn the first video, the speaker (among many other eye-popping errors) refers to Michael Behe as an ex-atheist. I don't think that's true.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what the value of watching this would be. Sure, it makes my blood boil, and yes, this is what we're up against: An inestimably large army of impregnable, impervious ignorance. The "no one was there so you can't prove it happened" argument demonstrates how those we're "up against" seem to have an impossibly high standard by which to judge concepts outside of their ideology, but no standards at all when it comes to that same ideology.
ReplyDeleteThe only hope at all is science education. It's easy to dismiss all that "non-evidence" when you don't know what it means.
BTW, I visited the t-shirt site. My favorite shirt was "EX-Rebel." You wonder about the person who'd be proud to wear that one.
