Name this molecule. You must be specific but we don't need the full correct scientific name. (If you know it then please post it.)
As usual, there's a connection between Monday's molecule and this Wednesday's Nobel Laureate. This one's very easy once you know the molecule. There'll be a few extra bonus points for guessing Wednesday's Nobel Laureate(s).
It's alpha-Amanitin, a mushroom toxin that inhibits Polymerase II, and the Laureate might be Eric F. Wieschaus.
ReplyDeleteI'd just like to see the full nomenclature of this one!
ReplyDeleteI seriously need to brush up on my chemistry ;)
Surely we are hinting here at Roger Kornberg, who won the Nobel in 2006 for solving the crystal structure of RNA Pol II?
