Last Tuesday the Toronto City Council met for their annual photo. Several of the more senior—and more conservative—councillors were upset because they couldn't sit in the first row, which was reserved for the Mayor and the Executive Committee.
The squabbling persisted for so long that the photo shoot had to be canceled. I love the cartoon in today's Toronto Star and I just can't resist posting a copy. It captures the mood exactly. (It also reminds me of the Discovery Institute.)
A nice picture of idiots who are probably IDiots as well
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic cartoon! I couldn't believe when I heard that the picture had to be cancelled because, apparently, all the guys supposed to be in it were in grade three.
ReplyDeleteI could gloat about such nonsense going on in my old (and Larry's current) home town, except that approximately equivalent nonsense goes on in my current (and Larry's old) home town.
ReplyDeleteMunicipal politics just seems to the silliest shenanigans.
But the important question is: Did they say their prayers before they went to bed?
ReplyDeleteRight wing Councillors should sit on the right side, left wing Councillors should sit on the left side, and the "mushy middle" should sit in the middle.
ReplyDeleteThis way everyone would have been comfortable with the seating plan, and it would have been an accurate reflection of their true political leanings. No Councillor would be able to argue with that and everyone would be satisfied.
