I'm not usually a fan of country music and I'm not usually fond of people from Texas, but I'll make an exception for the Dixie Chicks. I just watched them sing Not Ready to Make Nice on the Grammy Awards show. Introduced by Joan Baez, no less (see below).

Apparently not.
One of the stereotypical characteristics of Texans is that they like to brag about how their state is biggest and best at everything. It makes them so endearing.
My tongue-in-cheek comment referred to people from Texas, not things that are in Texas. Do you know the difference?

Gee, and I thought "provincial" was a word we apply to people who don't see beyond the borders of their state and can't take a bit of teasing. :-)

ReplyDeleteThose "Things", such as M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, St. Lukes and Methodist Hospitals, and NASA, are people.
Hills and lakes are "things".
Institutes and centers of medicine and science are all about people.
