Dawkins and Krauss on CNN

Here's a CNN interview with Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss. It was recorded this morning. It's very unfortunate that the reporter (Poppy Harlow) injects her own views on religion but at least they serve to illustrate the prejudice against unbelievers.

There are quite a few CNN reporters who broadcast their Christian views at every opportunity. They just don't get it.

I have no idea what you are blathering about. You have to call 1 body.

Why does this reporter have to ambush them with her own beliefs, and get in the last word, immediately before she tries to cut them off?

If she wants a debate, she should do the honest thing and flag that ahead of time and give them a chance to respond, instead of ambushing them and then trying to cut off their answers.

Better call two for a second opinion.

They are two men who court the controversy, welcome the debate, seek out the challenge, and are confident not only in the rightness of their position, but in their ability to express and adequately convey its rightness to others.
She 'challenged' them by stating the obvious - that many people will take issue with the film just as they take issue with what these two men have already put out there. She soft-balled a question to them about radicalization and terrorism. There was that uncomfortable moment that often happens in conversations either face to face or via telecommunications instruments where two people keep bumping into each others' statements, backing up, waiting to see who will go first, then clumsily starting up again at the same time. Just as people often do when they walk toward each other down a narrow path. Finally, she apologized and invited Krauss to speak, which was appropriate.
There was no 'ambush', nothing terribly 'unfortunate' and not even anything to indicate that the interviewer is in fact a Christian.
Jeez, for crusaders you guys sure do get sensitive.

I don't think she ambushed them at all. She allowed Dawkins to answer after she thought that the thing was over, but noticed that they still wanted to say something. Hers was just like a final note, a note she honestly thought was appropriate not to end completely condemning religions. She was just not informed that religions do not own the golden rule.

Well.. this is unbelievable. Mr. Krausse' shit is so "true":"..The ultimate goal of this movie was to get rid of myths and superstitions and ultimately get rid off religions..." He-Krausse actually said DESTROY RELIGION....I hope I have not heard it right. If I did, please let me know, because if this shit is true, I have to call 1 buddy because I have lost a bet:(

BTW: Lately I have been typing my comments in word processor and then cutting them and pasting them here, as typing directly
sometimes makes my comments disappear. Anybody experienced it? I guess my last pasting did't turn out that well lol

Nope, seems to work just fine for me.

I agree, there didn't seem to be any ambush, and Krauss and Dawkins didn't seem to respond as if they felt ambushed.

The inanity of her comments is another matter, of course.

There is usually a delay in posting comments on Monday, due to the "Monday's Molecule" contest, as I recently learned myself. I don't know if that explains the problem you've been having, Dominic.

This a feature, not a bug.

It may depend on how strong and reliable you internet connection is. The text box in comments does not save text entered into it unless you preview what you wrote, so if your connection is dropped before your comments is uploaded to the server, it likely enters cyber-oblivion (which happens to be right next door to the dimension where socks lost in the dryer go). Using a word proccessor (or, even better, a plain-text editor) is a good idea as are previewing your comments and copying it from the commest section text box.

And, Steve, many people do not understand how text boxes work, which itself has a lot to do with how they are programmed, so merely asking why comments disappear is not an assertion of anything untoward.

Well, in general those text boxes are malign entities with a secret agenda and take a perverse delight in mangling the meaning of what one is attempting to communicate.

The one on my computer just dropped a word from my previous comment.

god only knows what it will do to this one ...

steve, your computer seems to have a virus that is making all your jokes unfunny!

Steve - a quote from Joyce? Here's what Google translate came up with:

Tomorrow replacement airport, downtown or at the football, that problems. Beating, inhabit the sad old age and disease, spanned, and the advising hunger and the ugly need. Everyone in Michigan and now lives nor arrows but laughter. Add to My lion, is an important element or the official website, and had not from time to time. Diesel models at the scene, a football player and makeup. In the regional competition in the consumer across the country. Please fix or maintain a gentle smile. Rangers complete graduate school, members of replacement jaws of life. EU wants to suspend production, the impact of life now. No not that one should not start before winning design. Each or miss.

"The advising hunger and the ugly need." That's beautiful, man. I feel a song coming on.
