Noah's Ark

Yesterday I dropped a hint about a plastic model of Noah's Ark. I suggested it might make a good gift ... in case anyone was thinking about gifts.

Ms. Sandwalk was a bit insulted 'cause we already have a perfectly good ark that she made—complete with animals. Here's a photo of her work. I have to admit that it's a lot better than the plastic model.

I am afraid not all those animals will fit into the ark and dinosaurs have to wait outside.

Dinosaurs? In fact isn't that Mr. and Mrs T. Rex I can see down there on the right? Ken Ham will be pleased. (Please don't tell me it's Mr and Mrs Squirrel)

My wife and I actually bought a Noah's Ark toyset for our son a couple of years ago when he was three. We've never told him the bible story so to him its just a boat and some animals. He's also particularly into dinosaurs (as are most kids of his age). The funny thing is that he immediately recognized that dinosaurs couldn't go on the boat as they would be 'too big' and he always played with his dinosaurs separately from the non extinct animals. It was only later that he learned that dinosaurs died a long time ago and aren't around today (he's still not completely sure there isn't a place called Jurassic Park that might have a few of them).

Gah. We need a good model HMS Beagle for kids top play with in the bath. And a real one for adults to play with.
