i think the point here is that science offers what everyone can agree on because it's logical and consistent with experimental and observable facts.

The color coding around India doesn't look correct in the top picture. Unless there's been some mass conversions in Bangladesh I think its been missed out (its a relatively small geographical point but it does have 150 million or so inhabitants, about half the total of Europe or the US so its not that minor in number terms).

Martinc, what do you mean by "Europe"? I think Europe has many more inhabitants than that.

Quite right, my mistake. The figure of 300 million for Europe was stuck in my mind for some reason - I think its the population for the EU, a few member states back. I checked the complete figures for Europe these days and its something of the order of 700 million plus.
