FOX News Anchor Want USA to Support Terrorism

This is really quite incredible. Brain Kilmeade is the co-host of of the Fox and Friends morning news program. He thinks the USA should support terrorists inside Iran who will set off car bombs in Tehran. The conservative right really doesn't get it, do they?

The war against Iran is coming soon to a theater near you.

What really cooks my goose is that these are precisely the same people who are ostensibly Christian. I'm not as fundamentally opposed to religion or religious ideas as you are, but I am absolutely opposed to people proclaiming, on the one hand, a set of religious ideas or principles, and on the other hand, simultaneously advocating the complete and utter contravention of those ideas and principles. I'm not as ambitious as Lennon was. I simply imagine a world where people try to make their policy prescriptions and behavior consistent with their professed beliefs. It would be, I think, a marked improvement over what we have now.

This is quite consistent with Bush's stated policy: you are either with us or against us. Terrorists are thus defined by their allegience not by their terrorising tactics

And of course he overlooks the very obvious historical facts that these allegiances change rather rapidly (see: Afghan mujahadeen against the Soviets, the KLA in the former Yugoslavia, etc.) Arming the PKK against Iran may seem like a good idea, until you realize they are also attacking a NATO ally on the other side of Iraq. Whoops.

Some get it*. The know world is not a fluffy place. That means that sometimes you'll be wildly inconsistent and do some nasty stuff "for the greater good™". Liberals and conservatives are both great at justifying things.

The best you can hope for is someone "riding herd" to keep the stupid things done in our name "for the greater good™", to a minimum.

*And some don't. The latter are the ones good at compartmentalizing their thoughts so that they don't feel the cognitive dissonance.

"create havoc inside Iran"

Do I detect some revolutionary new foreign policy taking shape here? What a sophisticated way to run a global empire. Build a fortress around your backyard and create havoc everywhere else...Surely the USA is more culturally advanced than a bunch of car-bombers?
