Who's Reading Sandwalk Right Now?

I was curious about when people were reading Sandwalk. Sometimes I get into chat mode with some of you in the comments section. It seems that some people have a schedule similar to mine.

Then I got to thinking. Maybe everyone in Europe reads during the night and everyone in Australia during the day—or some such permutation. So I took a snapshot of where my readers are at different times of the day/night.

Here are the results for 1PM, 5PM, 11PM, and 6AM respectively. There doesn't seem to be a pattern except that most of you are asleep between midnight and 6AM your time. It looks like you're surfing the internet most of the time you're awake! (BTW, who's that person in Hawaii? I'd like to visit you. Do you have a spare room?)

I believe it's me from Hungary on the third image (the green dot on Europe). :)

I'm the London blob, or at least part of it. I'm writing my first paper and preparing for my first conference presentation (eeek!) at the moment, so I'm spending quite a bit of time at the computer (two computers actually - work and home). I probably check Sandwalk between approximately the hours of 9AM-11PM BST, with maximum hits in mid-Afternoon when my mind wanders the most.

You have some readers in interesting places; one seems to be in northern Pakistan (though it's difficult to tell), possibly the tribal areas that are in the news so often, which is a place I'd really like to visit.

We have a spare room in Casper, WY. if you'd like to visit. :-)
It's not Hawaii, but we've a lot of deer, elk, antelope, red fox, and other critters you might like to see.
I like to read your posts between 4 P.M. and midnight.

I live in Panama, that place with the big canal. Yup.

Greetings from Balmy Fairbanks, AK. Where 'our neighbours to the north' actually means Russia (Though, you're going south again at that point). One of the few places in the world with even lovelier weather than Canada.

I'm surprised I didn't show up on your map, though.

Hi Kevin,

These are just snapshots. They don't include all readers. If you weren't logged in around the time that I made the maps then you won't be on them.

I'm that lone dot from Singapore. Yay!

I might be the dot in Northern Spain, picture 4, who knows?

greetings from Germany. Normally, I check Sandwalk (and PT and scienceblogs) between 5 and 6 am local time before breakfeast and sometimes from my lab computer during daytime.

probably Osama Bin Laden, looking for Larry's scathing remarks about the US War on Terror (TM).

Hälsningar från Sverige. ("Greetings ...")

FWIW I read and comment on new posts around "lunchtime", and try to make time to reply on old thread in the "evenings". [What can I say, I prioritize new experiences.]

As I have flexible hours, that doesn't amount to much precision. :-P

Hey, several Finnish readers! (I'm not one of the dots in Finland, though)

Osam bin Laden is living in Kansas. It's the safest place for people like him. He works the night shift at the local McDonald's.

I don't seem to have a dot, or maybe I share one with Torbjörn Larsson. But I usually read Sandwalk through the feed and I guess that doesn't count. I'm in Linköping, Southeast Sweden.
